This will be a continuation of our look at Iversen and Iversen's book on neuropharmacology. Animal models have been very important in the study of addictive drug use. Some of the most important aspects of this study have to do with changes in motivations to acquire it, changes in the drug's reward value, the sensations correlated with withdrawal process, etc. It is particularly important to pay attention to the roles which psychological constructs have in measuring, dissecting and interpreting animal behavior.
